The Biggest Lie

We won’t even go into how God found them in the Garden after the fateful fruit caper and Adam explained by saying he was afraid. Then he blamed the woman. Eve just owned it

“The serpent deceived me, and I ate,” she said.

No groveling, blame-shifting, or fear-based confessions here. Eve didn’t try to confuse God with a lot of words, make excuses, or claim ignorance. She confessed boldly, ready to deal with the consequences. 

I can’t help but wonder if by throwing Eve under the bus, Adam hoped God would say, “Oh, you poor, sweet, innocent man,” and let him off the hook. How’d that work out for ya, Adam?

Anyway, the question women need to ask now is, what if the traditional thinking about this story was, in fact, wrong?

What Did You Expect?

What struck me is the number of people who indicated, mostly in an undertone, they were (on some level) dissatisfied with the way their life turned out. They would use phrases like, “I’m just a production manager,” or “I never left FedEx.”

It’s as if they are saying, “I had the lowest of expectations, and I’m still disappointed.”

It made me think about my own life and where I’ve been and where I hope to go. The truth is, I am not where I want to be. Yet.

Stop Killing Your Confidence

Shoot, I would have taken “not be picked on” as an achievement. So, I was continually looking for ways to get rid of the version of me that was a target and become more like the people I desperately wanted to invite me into their group. They were the popular kids with the cool stuff, great boyfriends, parties every weekend, and on and on. How does one get to be like them? I learned early that you do what they do.
